Most likely another railway employee hitching a lift at the start or end of their shift?Michael Campbellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09740155011466713811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1400903239930176564.post-68869924521318852932010-09-23T08:15:13.744+01:002010-09-23T08:15:13.744+01:00The signal box at Low Peak Junction had a signalma...The signal box at Low Peak Junction had a signalman fitted inside it to er, 'operate' the lever frame. Then I found a guy to stand on the platform and offer up the signal line token. Great!

Oh! Two staff working a box which would only have found work for one!

Aha! It's shift changeover and both early and late turn are there for a short time! Or maybe one of the guys is training . . .

Your 'extra driver' could be another driver simply hitching a lift or possibly a Trainee who had been sent to retrieve the Driver's sandwiches which he'd left in the other cab!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1400903239930176564.post-37456711185060602262010-09-21T20:50:25.870+01:002010-09-21T20:50:25.870+01:00Very nice indeed.Very nice indeed.Phil Parkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15673614093646938053noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1400903239930176564.post-57841509918871423252010-09-21T14:20:59.341+01:002010-09-21T14:20:59.341+01:00Ha!
